Local Politicians

Thursday June 25, 2009

Having funding restored to our libraries is not just a one person effort. We all need to encourage our state legislators to restore funding. Our City Council members can use their collective voices, legislative power, and political influence to emphasize our interests in library funding to the state legislature.

Call upon your local city council and mayor to adopt a resolution in support of fully funded libraries and also request that they join us in solidarity in Columbus to show support for restoring library funding.

A sample resolution from the Sandusky City Council is available here Sandusky City Council Resolution. If your local city council needs help in drafting a resolution, the Sandusky one is a fine choice to model after.

Update: It’s been confirmed to me that the Cleveland City Council will be adopting a resolution to support our libraries on July 1, 2009.
