Linda Bolon Response
Monday June 29, 2009
Thank you for contacting the office of State Representative Linda Bolon regarding state funding of libraries. She enjoys receiving communication from her constituents regarding issues that are important to our community and state.
She wanted me to take the time to let you know that the state budget, House Bill 1, is still being reviewed in conference committee. While Governor Strickland has proposed an additional 30% reduction in funding for Ohio libraries, there can be no certainty that this reduction will be enacted. However, funding for public libraries is just one of many of the draconian cuts being considered as the legislature attempts to balance the state budget. The situation is such that probably no program or agency will be spared. The Representative does feel that libraries are as equally important as any other state agency because they are one of the few places a person who loses their job can to go to for help or entertainment. As such, she is taking these cuts seriously. Even in the light of such tenuous fiscal times, she promises that she will continue to work with her fellow members to make Ohio a better place to live and work.
If our office can be of any further assistance regarding this issue or other state issues please do not hesitate to contact us at (614) 466-8022.
Sincerely,
Adam Nation
