Thank you for e-mailing me regarding your opposition to proposed cuts to library funding by Governor Ted Strickland. I appreciate you taking the time to share your views with me.

Please know while I understand the need for a balanced state budget, but the cuts proposed to libraries are clearly out of line with other proposed cuts. I have always worked to ensure libraries are able to continue to provide educational resources to Ohioans. Additionally, this week I personally met with several library patrons and staff at the Miamisburg library to understand how Governor Strickland’s proposed cuts will affect library operations and services. I can assure you I will do my best to advocate for your concerns as the budget bill continues to be debated.

Due to the volume of e-mails and telephone calls I have received, I am unable to personally address your concerns. However, I hope that this response is helpful in knowing where I stand on the issue.
