Deborah Newcomb Response
Saturday June 27, 2009
Thank you for your email and comments regarding Governor Strickland’s proposed public library funding cuts. As the House Conference Committee addresses the $3.2 billion deficit in the state budget, I have taken the liberty of forwarding a memorandum to the House Conference Committee asking them to reconsider Governor Strickland’s proposal.
These are serious times and families across Ohio are hurting. We have limited options to address the state’s weakened budgetary situation. Yet, we must do all we can to avoid raising taxes on hard-working Ohio families, while protecting those who have been affected by this tough economy.
I understand the important role public libraries hold in our community as occupational, educational, and recreational resources to area residents and will do my best to preserve the outstanding services they offer.
Please contact me if I may provide any future assistance.
Sincerely,
DEBORAH NEWCOMB
State Representative
