Connie Pillich Response
Saturday June 27, 2009
Thank you for your email. I have been moved by the many letters and calls my office has received from people providing testimony to the importance of libraries in their lives. It is clear that people need our libraries more than ever during this difficult economic time for education, entertainment, research, and job searches. I have always been a strong advocate for our libraries and worked to protect libraries when the budget was before the House.
This historically challenging budget has left the legislature with some difficult decisions to be made. Many institutions and people are being asked to make sacrifices. But we must also do our best to preserve these fundamental institutions that are important to so many. Thank you for letting me know how important this issue is to you, I will do what I can to ensure that libraries continue to provide these critical services. By receiving this level of feedback from constituents, I understand that now more than ever we need libraries and the services they provide.
Thank you again for voicing your concerns. Together we will find solutions to get through these tough times. Please do not hesitate to contact me again if I can be of service in the future.
Sincerely,
Connie Pillich
