Brian J. Cummins, Cleveland City Council, Response
Saturday June 27, 2009
Thanks for your message and work on behalf of calling out the vital importance of our public libraries.
I’ve written and am in contact with State Representatives Robin Belcher (D10), Sandra Williams (D11), Mike Foley (D14), Michael Skindell (D13), Kenny Yuko (D7), Michael DeBose (D12), Barbara Boyd (D9), Timothy J. DeGeeter (D15) and Matthew J. Dolan (D98) as well as State Senators Shirley Smith (D21) and Nina Turner (D25).
Cleveland City Council as a body is also involved in directly lobbying the Governor’s office as well as both the House and Senate’s leadership.
Having a Cleveland Public Library Branch (Brooklyn Branch – smallest branch in the system) at the end of my street, I know first hand the enormous benefits it provides all sectors of our community. I am confident with enough outreach and voices in support of the libraries we can avoid cuts and the State government can find a way to find outer efficiencies in our government spending that will not result in a loss of such an important service.
Again, thank you for your advocacy!
Sincerely,
Brian.
